Kidderminster Dance Festival

This year the dates for the festival are July 13th,14th,19th,20th & 21st. Once again it will be held at the Holy Trinity School Kidderminster. I need you to think about what solos, duets & trios you would ideally like to do & email me at janejuly@hotmail.co.uk. I understand you will have not spoken to teachers or potential partners yet but I need your wish list to allocate which teacher will be choreographing or polishing your routines. indicate if you are keeping a routine & which ones you would like new.The general rule will be your teacher for a particular subject will be responsible for any new routines.We have last years routines on hard-drive so Miss Suzi's routines can be polished if you want to keep them.

There has been a change of rules which will affect us; there are only 2 duet & trio sections for each age group.Classical includes ballet,greek,national & character & Cabaret includes lyrical,modern,tap, Song & Dance & Acro. Candidates can dance twice in each section with a change of style or partner. I think this is ridiculous as no other festival has so few sections for duets & trios so dances that can't be done at KDF could be done at other festivals. The sections will probably be huge so hopefully it'll only be for 1 year or we find alternative festivals.Miss Ruth & I will be taking private lessons on saturday afternoons as some Sundays will be DISNEY!!I look forward to receiving your emails & I'll try & compose a checklist to get started with.

I would like to congratulate all the pupils of Crescents Ballet School who put on an excellent performance this weekend, you all danced so well & I am proud of every single one of you. A Big Thank you to my wonderful teachers who choreographed such good routines, especially Miss Natalie,Sarah & Bethany for stepping in to cover the routines not finished due to the illness of another teacher.

A Big Thank you to all the mums & dads who helped backstage & to my wonderful family who I couldn't have put on the show without, their help & support mean everything to me.

Everything came together after nearly a year of preparation & after term finishes Thursday 28th I hope everyone has a restful Easter break. I hope you all come back refreshed & ready to get working on exams, Rose awards, Medal tests,Kidderminster Dance Festival,Disney............

SNOW! If there are adverse weather conditions over the next few days classes will be cancelled if the schools are closed and you will be notified by a news flash on this site and on our Facebook page.In line with other schools and extra curricular activities no refund will be given for cancelled classes however with the show in March I shall make up any missed lessons in the form of rehearsals at the studio possibly in costume after Half term.

Starting Sept 12th Musical Theatre Classes at the studio 6.30-7.15 with our new teacher Verity Evans.,

Verity trained at London's Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts London where she started at 14 and went on to do a Musical Theatre Diploma and Graduated with the college Acting Award in 2010. Verity has recently graduated from Middlesex University with a first class BA (Hons) Degree in Performing Arts with Theatre in Education. Verity is currently working in a local Primary School in Worcester as a year 1 TA. She has worked at other Performing Arts Schools in London and the Midlands teaching Musical theatre, Tap and Jazz. Verity has done various professional acting and dance work including film, dancing at the Brit awards, commercials and has recently completed a UK tour of an Oscar Wilde play. Verity is really looking forward to teaching Musical Theatre at Crescents Ballet School.

Congratulations to all pupils on an excellent festival, the examiner may not have appreciated all your hard work, style & attention to detail in some cases but you all danced well & should be proud of yourselves . We brought home trophies for the cabinet. Keep up the good work!

Saddlers Wells Rehearsals

Dancers all your rehearsal money & white dress money should be in. The rehearsals start Aug 31st & Sept 1st 1.30-4.30 at Claines Scout hut,Cornmeadow Lane, you can then hand your coach & T-shirt form in. Without the forms I cannot email you all as I don't have your addresses. Thanks

New Date for your Diary

I have booked November 5th 2011 for Crescents to dance on the Saddlers Wells stage again!!! I decided that the sheer size of the stage & the lighting offered outweighed the other venues & now I've got to start thinking of some ideas!!!

New Classes

From Thursday May 12th Yoga fusion classes will be held at Crescents Dance Studios from 7-8pm! The classes cost £6.00 a week if you drop in or £4.00 a week if you book 10 sessions! Call Faye Brown on 07765 854419 for more details.

Kidderminster Dance Festival

Congratulations to all my pupils you all worked really hard dancing like true stars & I'm so proud of you whether you won a medal or not.

Special mention must go to Jessica Healey 1st in Ballet B, Keely Taylor-Hall who came 1st in Modern C & Lyrical C for which she won a trophy.Ellen Gilhooly who came 1st in Song & Dance E for which she won a trophy. Amy Wiggett & Sasha Barker who won the trophy for Senior Cabaret duets.Suzi Tandy who won trophies for winning Character & Ballet F. Danielle Witcomb who won Best Make up for her Aristocats & thanks to Miss Natalie for doing it (her 3rd makeup trophy).Best Costume to Emily Pomeroy & Laura-Beth Hardwick for Punch & Judy & thanks to Jo Pomeroy for making it.

Ellen Gilhooly & Lauren Jet-Smith won their Senior Lyrical Duet section which was fantastic as it was one of the hardest sections,  Amy Wiggett & Sasha Barker came 2nd & Ellen Gilhooly & Amy Wiggett came 3rd too.Apart from winning the trophy for the section Ellen & Lauren also won the trophy awarded by the examiner for "Best Musical Intrepretation" throughout the whole 4 days which I must take a lot of the credit for as I choreographed the routine, but the girls took my breathe away with their performance.
